Black Jack is possibly one of the more favoured games bet on in betting houses. Blackjack is also referred to as "twenty one" or "pontoon." The game is a combination of luck and skills coupled with decision-making. The game has changed over a period of time. Players have specialized in certain skills like "card card counting," with which they turn the edge in the game in the players favor. The game has been in existence since the 18th century. References can be seen in historical scriptures to a card game referred to as "vingt-et-un," which in French means Twenty One, and is deemed as the precursor to blackjack.

The game was originally not very popular in the states. This caused the casinos trying various things like providing a bonus like a ten to one payout, if the player had an ace of spades and a black jack. The jack could be either the jack of spades or clubs. Once the game got well-liked, the reward payout quickly disappeared from the game.

Any hand which achieves a sum of 21 is considered a winner. The value should not exceed twenty-one, in which case the hand is said to be "bust." The target of every player is to best the dealer. If the blackjack player and the croupier both have the identical score, it is referred to as a "push" (a tie), with not either the black jack player or the casino winning the hand.
